I'm Pablo Frey (@pablofreyg), an artist and cardist based in Mexico with a passion for magic consulting. Since 2018, I've been creating a unique deck of misprinted cards that merge art and playing cards. The final result is MSPRNT 00 "FLWR".

Design Overview

Inspired by Mexico's "el Molino de las Flores," I drew design inspiration from the contrasting colors of flowers against the sky. Seeking uniqueness, I balanced imperfection and perfection. Influenced by nature, cards, industry, and artists like Joseph Kosuth, Willem de Kooning, and Marcel Duchamp, my goal was to create an imperfect yet connected deck, achieved through the design's own imperfections.

I chose to distinguish faces from the back in this deck to represent an error in the two-phase printing process. The back reflects a digital misprint, while the front maintains traditional design with more subtle errors throughout. This approach preserves theme consistency without sacrificing concept.

The box is crucial to the project as it's rarely made intentionally but fits the deck concept. I designed a unique box to enhance owning and using the deck experience.

MSPRNT 00 "FLWR" is printed by the USPCC on their standard stock with an Air-Cushion finish to ensure the highest quality possible and ultimate longevity. Gilded decks will be made and fulfilled by Gamblers Warehouse. This specific deck and concept will never be reprinted, making it a unique addition to any collector's collection.
